Here are the main skills that I identified for each year group.Īs a school, we will then focus on one multiplication fact at a time (moving up to 2 a week once the system is established) by spending a few minutes a day sharing the above concepts and building up to a comprehensive understanding of the fact. I then looked through the curriculum and decided what each year group should be able to do with a multiplication fact. With 66 facts, there are enough to focus on two a week for a year. First, I divided the times tables up and ordered them into how I would focus on them: starting with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, then moving on to the rest until all 66 facts have been covered. In order to build fluency in times tables, I decided to look at what times tables could look like across the school.
